The solo show G-d O G-d, Where are you taking me? is a product of one month's work in residency space Celestial Offerings in the old city of Zfat, in the north of Israel. The artist and host, or womb-maker, Sara Hava Shafran, invited me to spend one month in Zfat in residency with her, to create art pieces in dialogue with the city, before exhibiting these in her unique and unusual dome-shaped gallery space. During the residency, I responded to my experiences of living and creating in spiritual Zfat. I created works on paper (approximately 100 drawings), several paintings on board and canvas, an array of poems, and an album of six songs, which can be listened to here: https://sivanlavie.bandcamp.com/album/g-d-o-g-d-where-are-you-taking-me. . During my time in Zfat I attended Kabbala classes, and drew inspiration from the spiritual atmosphere, mystical graveyard of Tzadikim, and pictureseque views the city offers. My feelings of confusion, heartbreak, trust (and mistrust), pain and love, which I felt at this time, are also present in the works. The works were created as a sort of diary, each day beginning with writing and drawing. Thee pieces of intuition were used to create songs or paintings. The title of the show, G-d O G-d, Where are you taking me? alludes to the thoughts that Zfat brought up for me, of trusting in the unknown even in times of pain, when you can't see beyond the end of your nose.
