With the bracelet victory, she follows in the footsteps of her poker mentor, Erik Seidel. The Poker Hall of Famer coached Konnikova when she first got into poker and won a his tenth bracelet in December 2023 at WSOP Paradise, becoming just the fifth player to win ten or more.

Hear From Konnikova on Life Outside Poker

Though some joke about a "PokerNewscurse" that dooms a player once they are interviewed, Konnikova's bracelet victory occurred just weeks after her interview on the Life Outside Poker podcast, where she discussed her writing career, being mentored by Seidel and research on cheating in poker and other games for an upcoming book.

previous:Playing with the Rummy Heart can be rewarding, but it can also backfire if you make a few common mistakes. Overvaluing heart cards without taking into account their context within your hand is a common mistake. Even though valuable hearts can be strong assets, if you hold onto them at the expense of creating other melds, you may miss out on winning combinations. Finding a balance between chasing hearts & keeping your overall plan flexible is crucial. Another error is to ignore the picks & discards made by opponents. If you ignore these indicators, you may become more susceptible to their tactics & be less able to successfully counter their moves.NEXT:Knowing when to discard heart cards and when to hold onto them can significantly impact your gameplay. For example, it might be prudent to hold onto your heart cards until you draw the necessary card or until you see a chance to strategically use them against your opponents if you have a lot of them but are waiting for a particular card to finish a meld of cards. Keeping an eye on your opponents' tactics and modifying your own accordingly requires patience. It might be advantageous to hold onto any hearts you have until you can ascertain whether your opponent is nearing finishing their melds if you observe that they are actively pursuing heart cards while discarding others. In addition to keeping your hand safe, this strategy enables you to profit from any errors they might make as they hurry to finish their own hands.
