Primary school (Ajial) residency (2017-18)

In 2017 to 2018, I was selected for a fully funded residency in a primary school in Jaffa, Israel. The artist residency took form as a physical classroom, which functioned as my studio as well as a teaching room. I worked with children aged 6-12, giving art lessons of entirely my own content. I worked with the children on breaking their expectations and definitions of art, aesthetics, beauty, and allowed them great freedom in medium, content, experimentation, color and building self-confidence. The year ended with an exhibition at the Rothschild Foundation building in Tel Aviv, in which we built a styrofoam city. As much as they were inspired by my practice and direction, I was inspired by them in my own studio practice, attitudes, thoughts.
